Default what oil should i use?

Its that time of year again.. anyone have a good 2cents on if i should use the regular or synthetic oil in my 01 XL 883C? I have been told that the bigest difference is the cost.

another oil thread - MY advice use what fits in your comfort level - as for cost - synthetic is actually cheapear since you arn't changing as often.

I run synthetic and still change my oil every 2,500 miles. To me, I have a $15,000 machine, why use something less than the best to save $10 an oil change. I'd suggest using either Amsoil or Mobil 1 V-twin 20W-50.

You should use Mobil1 20w-50. Usually runs me 8.99 a quart but I think its worth it.

Use what's avilable and what you are willing to pay for. I personally run synthetics and when it comes to those you can't go wrong with amsoil or mobil1 (use the one that's more commonly avialable and/or cheaper). Your manual recommends 20w-50, but some people have gotten away with running mobil1 15w-50. I don't find synthetics to be more expensive because I just double the oil change time.

Just curious, what does the factory say in your manual? Might be a good option. I go by it.
