1200 Low w/ mids & Sundowner uncomfortable
I have an '08 Sporty 1200 Low with mid-controls and a Sundowner 2-up seat. \\;\\\\\\; I really love the bike, but the problem is that I find it uncomfortabe (a pain in th *** to be honest) after a half hour of riding. \\;\\\\\\; My butt hurts and I feel cramped. \\;\\\\\\; I am only 5'-11" so this seems odd to me.
 \\;\\\\\\;
My questions are:
(1) Will forward controls help? \\;\\\\\\; Will they help $300 worth?
(2) Did I make a mistake buying the Low? \\;\\\\\\; Should I have bought a diff. Sporty?
(3) Did I make a mistake buying a Sporty? \\;\\\\\\; Should I have bought a diff. H/D?
 \\;\\\\\\;
Will my *** fall off if I try an extended ride? \\;\\\\\\; [sm=smiley13.gif]
 \\;
On another topic, I put the tallest windshield on my bike today, and I am getting way more head buffeting \\;than without the windshield. \\; <\\;sigh>\\; \\; Is it just that time of the month for me, Schumacher?

I really suggest the forward controls. Not just cuz they look cool, but on long rides they also work as highway bars. I had the stock foot pegs on mine, then put the black diamond foot pegs on.. they work VERY well to stretch my legs out as well as look GREAT on the bike. \\; oh and im only 5'8ish.

You say that you are 5'11". \\; That seems awfully tall for a 1200 Low. \\; Especially with mid controls.
 \\;
I am only 5'9" and the 1200L seemed cramped for me. \\; I instead got a 1200R which seems to fit me just fine. Not even thinking about forward controls.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with 6 footer on a 1200L as long as you have forward controls. I'm 6 feet tall and also just recently bought the 1200L, with the Sundown. Forward controls are the way to go, I got lucky when I bought mine somebody had just bought a 1200C and wanted mid-controls, mine was the donor bike. I guess I got lucky and got forward controls for free. I don't really like how the sundowner looks and only use it when my wife rides with me, when I'm on my own I don't mind the stock seat, but I did raise the suspension almost all the way up so it wont kick my ***.

I am 5 '11", 200 lbs and couldn't be happier with my 1200 Low. I had an 883 Custom before this and always felt pain in my tail bone with the forward controls. I love the mids, they put your feet below your center of gravity and make the bike feel more nimble. I have done many 100 mile plus rides and have not had any issues. This could however be due to moving from the rigid mount 883 to the smooth, rubber mount 1200. The grin on my face when i twist the throttle could be blocking out anything bad from my mind.
