Liability only on a bike is a big mistake and that insurance agent must have added a digit, if not, he's on crack. I pay $430 yr full coverage/500 deductible coverage in NY on my 1200. (State Farm)

Shop around for another reputable agent.

Full coverage, 1200C, MD, Progressive, $180 Annual. The rest of my stuff is through State Farm, and they were double the price. I guess S.F. doesn't like motorcycles.

I had an 883 and converted over to 1200 and do not really notice that much of a big change. I do wish though that I did have that 6th gear.
The 883 did just as well as the 1200 on streets and highway. If cost is your consideration pick the 883 or get a bigger bike. I am looking at a softail or roadking next year.
are you sure you didnt get riped off? when i did the conversion with the 10:1 pistons, it was a whole new animal! for those who want more high gear ya may want to consider a bigger front pully. i went from a 27 to a 30 and dropped the rpm about 450 at 75 mph.

Yeah, Mikeisglidin I am sure I wasn't ripped off. Yes the bike was overall better, but after getting the conversion I realized I really didn't need it. I only weigh 175lbs and hardly ever do 2 up riding and I felt the 883 was enough. Now 2 up riding on a 1200 is totally different. The front pulley idea sounds like a nice alternative to the high RPM in 5th gear. I will look into it.

just a note on the 6 speed,i have been riding a 69 triumph for the last 17 years,i am not sure but if sportsters are like triumphs, the six gear would still be the same as fifth on a five speed, see i wanted the five speed tranny for my triumph of course my 69 only has a four but upon research i found out that both had direct drive once they reached top gear, you just had more gears in between, like i said the sportster may be differnt but if not the six speed wont make much difference except between first and sixth, like i said i may be wrong since i just got a 95 xlh883 middle of last year and i have not done any wrenching on it yet.
anyway this is my first post here and i found this site about 4 days ago and find it very informative.there was not much of anything like this for my 69 bonnie.so nice to meet yall....
