Default Help installing new grips

I just bought a new set of grips. Left side is not a problem, but the trhottle side seems to be very tight going on the sleeve. Measuring it looks like the grip inner diameter is about a 1/16 of an inch smaller than the sleeve.&nbsp\\;They are for one inch bars, which is what I have. I remember as a kid using soap to get grips on bike handlebars! Any suggestions?&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

Don't use soap! If they are rubber grips use Aqua-net aerosol hair spray and let it dry overnight.

The inside is rubber. Out of curiosity, what is the problem with soap?

The potential problem with soap is that any water or condensation that gets in there will obviously make the grip slip. The hairspray lubricates just as well as soap when wet and sticks very well when it dries.

A couple months ago, I had to shave the plastic throttle sleeve down to get my new grips on.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Oh, and +1 on the hairspray if the inside is rubber.&nbsp\\;

I took a knife to the left grip and cut it off.&nbsp\\; Wasn't planning to save it.

Any tips for getting the left grip off the stock bars?
After you have taken all the controls off the bars, use the smallest flatblade screwdriver you can find and gently slide it as far under the grip as you can. Take some WD-40 and slide the straw in next to the screwdriver and squirt. Repeat the pcocess in a couple areas of the grip and twist the grip back and forth and after a fight it should come off. Don't forget to clean the WD-40 off before you re-install them....
