Help me pick my colors
I am a few weeks away from being ready to paint. \\; I haven't decieded on a color sceme yet. \\; I don't want anything too outragious because I may want to sell it in the near future. \\; My origional idea was black with a oragnge stipe about 2-3" wide going down the \\;center like a racing stripe and a orange bar and shield on the tank sides. \\; Now I am considering other options after talking to the painter and looking at other examples of his work.

RE: Help me pick my colors
Orange is not my favorite color, but HARLEY ORANGE and BLACK looks good on a Harley! I'm thinking I'm partial to the double orange stripe. But then BLUE is my favorite color so I'll have to throw in BLUE with SILVER METALFLAKE. Black with silver metalflake will probably allow you to sell it to almost anyone looking for a used bike but don't expect to add ANY of the cost of the paint job into the sales price! You might sell it quicker with new paint, though.
Which brings up the question...why are you getting it painted if you might sell it in the near future? Or does it NEED painting? Either way I don't see you recouping your costs much if any.
That being said, if you are choosing the paint for yourself, choose a color and scheme that says, I WANT THIS ONE! It's a gut decision. Painting simply to sell then I'll say Black with silver metalflake.

I am painting cause it needs painted. \\; The odd looking graphixs you see in the picture I sanded off and hit bare metal in a few spots. \\; Also, the previous owner bobbed the rear fender and added a "parascope" tail light that I cannot stand. \\; I just ordered a bobtail fender from J&\\;P to replace it with. \\; The guy that is doing the painting is doing it for about $200 plus supplies. \\;

Ok, that clears up a lot. Yeah, it needs painting and you are getting a \\;good deal if he does a good job. And I'll correct one of my statements earlier. I believe you CAN recoup your paint job on a sale! The other comments stand, black w/silver metalflake if you are selling it, and the scheme YOU want if you're keeping it. Does the outcome of the paint job play a factor in whether you keep it or not?
