Default 08 Nightster Exhaust

I know a lot of you guys have swapped out the stock exhaust on your bikes. And I plan on doing it soon too. I was reading about the V&H Fuelpak. Is it needed, do I have to re-calibrate the air/fuel after I switch pipes?

I've heard that you can get away without the fuel pack if you just change the exhaust, but you need it if you change the AC.&nbsp\\;

Sorry, AC = Air Cleaner.&nbsp\\; You should probably get the fuel pack then.&nbsp\\; There is a lot of good information already on this forum though about this topic.&nbsp\\; A quick search will give you all the info you need and more.

Yeah, most of the difference in your fuel mixture comes from a free flowing intake allowing more air into the engine.&nbsp\\; Just an exhaust change you still have the restriction in the intake to slow the air down.&nbsp\\; Since you're doing both you're going to want to do some sort of ECU change.&nbsp\\; Depending on what intake you go with, you might be able to get away with the dealership ECU download (~$150) but you'd be much better off with something better.&nbsp\\; You have a handful of options, but the most common seem to be the Fuelpak, PCIII (AKA Powercommander), and SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner).&nbsp\\; You'll never get everybody to agree on any one option, so ask around and see what works best for you.&nbsp\\; The PCIII you can plug your laptop into and is highly tweakable, the Fuelpak is more simplified.&nbsp\\; Some dig the simplicity of the Fuelpak, others dig the full tunability of the PCIII.&nbsp\\; I don't know enough about the SERT to comment.&nbsp\\; All 3 seem to be great products, you probably can't go wrong either way.&nbsp\\; I have the PCIII, and I can tell you the driveability is WAY better.&nbsp\\; No more surging at low speed part throttle, doesn't die when warming up anymore, throttle response is better, overall very happy.&nbsp\\; The other good tuners probably have the same effect though.
