The economy is tanking, gas prices are outrageous with no viable solution in sight, the motorcycle industry is is in a downturn, but "economical" motorcycles are being purchased...Harley's advertising bread and butter, the Big Twin is being crunched, and I imagine Sportster sales may increase? Just speculation, but I'm thinking SOMETHING noticeable might change for at least a couple of members of the Sportster family...XR1200?&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; That engine in a Nightster? Yeah, it's fodder for discussion all right. I'm not looking for DRASTIC changes just yet, though.

Gotta agree with Teek here, this would be a prime time for HD to bring the XR to American streets and maybe give some power options to their current "economy" bikes.&nbsp\\; I'm thinking sooner rather than later though.&nbsp\\; Change is good, bring it on.

I apologize for reviving a week old thread...i know that bothers some folks.

MSRP jumped by a grand? I just put down a deposit on mine, a friend of my Dad's is giving me a Black/Mirage Orange one for his MSRP, $10.300, so I don't think it's jumped a grand - looks more like $200ish if memory serves.

I for one am sad that they're doing away with the olive/black, that's far and away my fav colour. The black/orange is my second favourite, but if they'd had one coming in that was olive/black also with no security system, I'd have had it in a heartbeat. I locked in the black/orange only because the silver/black was all I could ever find and I'm admittedly no fan of it (despite being Oakland Raiders colors), and it was one of the few sans security system...

Color isnt a big issue to me. The wife wants a nightster, but she would want a pink or purple girlish color scheme. I did some research and found that painting over the orange (as an example) on the tank and fenders would be relatively cheap and she could get what she wanted.

Far as the price, there are still a buttload of the orange/black nightsters around NC. She might get the cash saved for it soon enough to reap the benefit of the 08 price.

Ummm...You said a friend of your dads is giving you black/orange one for msrp $10,300..If thats a 2009..Then tell your friends dad..I want the same deal...Cause here..Vivid Black paint 2009 Nightster was $700 dollars more..And the 2 tone was alittle over a grand...

I just returned from taking my son to look at the nightsters and the dealer had a chart of 09 colors.
If I remember right the only colors for thr nightster will be vivid blk. blk. &amp\\; orange and the silver and black denim.
The dealer had not been informed as to price increase but given the fact that the sporty line is generaly considered entry level I doubt that you will see an increase of more than 3 or 4 hundred.
As to any changes again only the select few in the motor co. know and they aint sayin
