new seat - windshield problem - help
Hey gang, just go in my Danny Gray 2 up seat..wow..wow..wow....nice, great back support, wife likes the passenger part and the back support for the rider is awesome...it is about 2 inches lower (did not measure but close) than stock...and is stylish looking.
PROBLEM..all this great stuff, but, now, it lowered me and before I just looked over my Harley quick detach windshield, and now I am just below the top of the window...almost in the curve top that is not the clearest part - I liked just looking over the window before and ducking in heavy wind/bugs (Canada Saskatchewan eh) ......tried clipping it on top of my forks where shocks are, that does not work.....what are my options...
 \\;
Oh ya, prob 2, back of new seat rubs against sissy bar and am afraid it will cut seat when wife gets on and off/bounces...help please.

DG makes some nice seats.
Couple of suggestions if you are not going back to the stock seat.

You might have to cut the windshield down so you can see over it. As far as the backrest rubbing goes, you may need to remove it. Talk to the guys you bought the seat from to see if they have any suggestions. Not sure if you told them you had a backrest before you ordered it or not, but if you didn't it really isn't their problem.

Cutting down the shield should be pretty easy.

I had the same prob with rubbing with my Drag specialties seat- it rubbed on the locknuts. \\; I have thought of tapping the sissy bar &\\; drilling out the side plate for (5/16"?) to eliminate the nuts.

RandyS, as for sissy bar cutting seat. Go to Auto Zone. Look for "Style Guard Universal Door Edge Protector". The P.N. is T3802
 \\;
The color is black. I bought this. It is 3/8 inch X 27 inch. You can cut to the length you need. It has the adhesive already in place. Apply it to the edge of the chrome. Works great and prevents cutting of seat.

Thanks guys. I am in Canada so do not have an autozone - I will try to find that part # on the internet to see what you mean and see if someone has it here..sounds like a good idea. No did not tell them I had sissy bar, and as a result, it is touching sissy bar and am not fully utilizing the extra bit of length and width of rear seat.....

Actually very easy to cut down windshield. Lay out new contour with tape to protect the plastic and use a handheld jigsaw or even Dremel tool. Cut slowly to keep from overheating plastic. File to remove any wavy edges, sand with 220/300 git to make it look nice.
