Default frustrating dyno results!!

I have a 2002 883r with extensive work and upgrades which include,1200 cylinders, buell high compression pistons, 10.5.1, thunderstorm heads, SE cam kit, SE big bore Carb, SE ignition, SE Coil, Forcewinder Air intake. Just had it dyno tuned because it was running very hot and was detonating when I got agressive with the throttle. The results came back and were disappointing to say the least. Max hp, 73, and max torque, 72...I was expecting MUCH more with the list of mods....any insight would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

james

the tech set the timing today as part of the tune, I only run 92 octane or better in the bike. He set the timing back a little to deal with the detonation, but now it doesn't seem to have the oomph it did before.

he probably set it back to keep it from blowing itself apart. engine tuning aint easy. especially on one thats been so heavily modified. i have no answers, but this link may help you solve the problem: http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonation/detonation.html

ya know, the funny thing is that this is the second "modified" sportster I have owned that has had this same problem. The last one had the main bearing, (at the bottom of the rods) go out at 54k miles. After a complete rebuild using Buell flywheels and rods etc. the bike still detonated...I had 5 different mechanics try to solve the problem with no success. eventually, I gave up and sold the bike. Now this one has the same issue...I give up. I am going to ride it till it quits, then buy a Yamaha R1 if I want to go fast, or a stock sportster and leave it the hell alone!!!!

from everything I have read, the mods made should have produced at least 85-90 hp. Doesn't the new 1200n produce 76 hp from stock?
