Default Are HD 6r12 pre gaped?

Going to change my plugs. Looing at the gapping it falls right on 0.038. With in the range of what the book calls for wich is 0.038 - 0.043 in. Main question is are these pre gaped?

Typically, yes...but you should still check them prior to installing them due to shipping reasons,(they could have knocked against something...ie.truck wall, another plug in the shipping box, fork truck, etc.) knockiing them out of whack...

I always check the gap on Champion or their HD branded plugs, although I can't remember the last time I actually found one 'out of specs'...

Only takes a couple of seconds to verify the gap on 2 plugs, so why take a chance....

I use Champion and always gap them. I end up with them around .040 which is one of the feelers. It just slips through with a little tension - perfect. Never had any problems. For some reason my Champions always need to be gapped -- they are always a little too much gap.

I'm a mechanic, and at the shop we ALWAYS gap plugs, pre-gapped or not, unless theyre iridiums, in which case the tips will break off if you try to gap them. Never know what they've been through on the journey to your hands
