Default Progressive 412 11.5" Standard Duty Part Number

I'll be purchasing a set of 11.5" (or maybe 12.0") Progressive 412 (standard duty) shocks for my '06 1200C. Progressive's website mentions part number 412-4063 (11.5") and 412-6068 (12.0") when I put in my model and year. The problem is that I don't see these part numbers anywhere else on the internet (i.e. when checking out eBay or sites where I can supposedly buy them for $190 instead of $260 MSRP).

Are these newer model numbers? Does anybody have old part numbers for the 11.5" and 12.0" standard duty so I can make sure I buy the right pair for my bike?

Thanks.

Progressive updated their shocks for these models to add a half inch stop to the travel of the shock. You can find these new numbers at www.onestopmoto.com Good place to buy from.

The 11.5 inch shocks used to be 412-4006 b/c (black / chrome)

Liddown,

I might have asked this before, but how did you get the tach set for your Nightster. I went to the stealer and bought one only for it to not be applicable unless I want to lose all of my indicator lights for the setup I have now. Any info would be greatly appreaciated.

Adding a Tach and keeping your indicator lights is not a problem... The two parts you need are:

67182-07 Tach
56115-95 Handle Bar Clamp

You can get them at your stealer or you can save 20% off of list and order them from www.lshd1.com

while we are on this subject - I was looking to get progressives also.

Which ones should I get - 11.5 or 12, standard or HD ?

I am about 250lbs, and when 2 up - add about 160lbs.

I have a question as well... and I am not trying to steal the thread...

I am looking at the all black 11" standards as well for my nightster.

How much better of a ride are they over stock? Does it look goofy lowering just the rear and not the front? What kits are out there to lower the front to match the rear with the 11" progressives?

Thanks,
Greg

There are a lot of opinions out there but I would say that you are at the weight where HD is the way to go, they will keep you from bottoming out on most common bumps. As far as length goes, again my opinion is more is better, 12.5 or 13 is a good choice. I am in the same weight boat as you and went with 13.5 440's on my Nightster.. Yes I lost some of the slammed look, but I am loving the ride and the increase in lean angle...

The Nightster comes with 11" shocks standard, so your not lowering it any more by replacing them with 11"...... Any thing is better than the stock junk shocks.. Progressive 412's are a nice improvement, you could also go to 11.5" and not loose the slammed look, and gain a small amount of extra travel...

More opinion here, but I again would go for the longest shocks you can if you are doing a lot of two up, and I would suggest HD springs...

And for everyone that asked the shock question, don't forget to spend a little more and get the progressive fork springs, and some BelRey 15wt. fork oil. Doing both ends of the bike really can make a nice difference...
