Default changing belt guard

I want to replace my belt guards on a 2007 sporty. I know that you have to remove the back nut that holds the rear shock in place. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get at that back nut. I think that its a 3/4". I can't get anything around it.

I use a combination open/box end wrench. Once you break it loose a bit, you can turn it off from the bolt head.
