Rented a Dyna a few weeks ago while on a business trip so I could spend the day riding with my bud. It was a nice bike and rode good but it just wasn't the same as my Sporty. Some work and mods would have made that Dyna a better ride but there's nothing that could be done to give it the wide versatality that the Sportser has. You can put the bags on any HD but there's only one that gives ya that Sportyresponse and mobility.

I loved my Sportster when I had it. It handled great and you could flip it around easily. I had some trouble with it sucking oil like Rosie sucks ice cream down and so I traded it in and got a Street Bob.
The handling isn't as quick as the Sporty but the suspension is like night and day for me (I am 5'10 and about 260). I do love howthe Street Bobrides effortlessly and smoothly down the highway. The Sportster could handle the highway too but itjust felt all revved up all the time and it was nice havinga bike calmly ride down the highway all laid back if you know whatI mean. I love just hitting the highway and ridingall day.
Both bikes are good but in the end I'm glad I went with the Street Bob for the riding I do.

I ride the Sporty because it's rougher and more agile than the baggers. Even if I could afford or handle the bigger bikes I don't think I would. I love the Sportster. I ride a V-Rod for the same reasons, but the Sportster is just plain fun.

Wow, thanks for the info, I am even more confused but it has been great info, based on the info it sounds as if I should go up a little, I am 5' 11" and 270, I agree when I sat on the Sportsters in the Store, my feet had to be moved forward for comfort, I am not looking for the quick and nimble more of a cruiser to take to work on Casual fridays, take it out on a nice Weekend for a ride and a chili dog in the country and something easy to handle. Given those parameters I am thinking I may want to move up into something bigger based on what everyon is saying.

In short I am looking for an easy ride for a fat, middle aged bald guy wants to feel some wind in my face and feel the freedom[sm=happybounce.gif]
a fat, middle aged bald guy
That pretty much describes me!! Except that I am 6'1" and 275. Had my Roadster XL1200 for about 2 years and 8000 miles with midcontrols and I love it more all the time. Got no problem keeping up with my buddies on BT's, plus it is a lot more agile...[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
