Almost time! question..883 owners
Well I'm about 3 weeks away from getting my new bike. In all honesty my best bet is the 883 custom. 883 with $800 down = $ 125 month Insurance would cost me $600 /year. I'm looking into buying A home in Sturgis SD ( my retirement home) so Financially, the 883 is my best bet. Plus at 48 i'm not worried about power. BUT I am worried about sound. Last time I rode was in the 70's all there was were drag pipes LOL. Today that seems like not the best way to go.
My question for 883 owners. How do the SEII or Cycle shack which ever you use sound on the 883.
Manly does it sound like a harley. How big a diffrence is there between SEII & Stock or Cycle Shack & stock.
lot noticeable? not so noticeable?
I know V&H are good but for right now I'm just asking about the 2 above.
Thanks for your help, really appreciate the replys.

John, I have video with sound of my wife's 883 before and after her Cycle Shack install. I would gladly email them to you if you would like to hear the comparison. Would probably work best if you have a high speed internet connection. If you would like just email me at tdlars@hotmail.com and I'll send them off to you.

You will be happy with either of those pipes.
The SEIIs will be a bit less LOUD than the Cycle Shacks but will have a better overall tone...
The Cycle Shacks will be a bit louder, but they can sound a bit tinny at times... the SEIIs although a little less loud, sound more solid IMO...

I own an 04 883 Custom. I am looking into either the Cycle Shack or Khrome Werks slip on mufflers. I have heard good things about both. I have heard the Cycle Shacks on a 1200 and they sound awesome. The owner said he didn't notice any performance gain but didn't notice any loss either. Reference your insurance cost. If I read it right, your company is going to charge you $600.00 per year for insurance? If that is correct, that is outrageous. I go through Markel American Insurance and they have a website at www.bike-line.com. I pay $160.00 a year for full coverage. Good luck on your new purchase. I have had mine for two years and I love it. I will be doing a 1200 conversion on it hopefully this next winter, though.

Went from stock to the CS slip-ons on mine. Its the Harley sound without the tuning issues you could end up with if you went with drag pipes. Best bang for the buck. Although there is a size, shape, and sound for everyone nowadays. So many options to choose from. Your imagination and size of your wallet are your only limitations.
