RE: Sporty gets washed, sporty makes funny noise
yep thats the noise my bike was making when corrosion built up on the relay from me washing my bike. Pulled the relays, cleaned off the corrision, blew out the area where it went in and coated relay prongs with dielectric grease. No more problems and now i do the battery cover by hand when i wash my bike.

Unfortunately electronics and H2o doesn't mix. [sm=badidea.gif]
Air intake and h2o doesn't mix.
When you wash the scoot you cover the above with something. Do not get your controls wet. Do not soak carbs, EFI, Connectors, Etc.........unless your running the flat track or hill climbing and have 2 inches of mud everywhere. There is no reason why you would have to soak any of the above including grips, switch housings, Head lamps, Turn signals, etc....
Ask me how I know!
