Default New Nightster is sputtering....

I bought my Nightster about two weeks ago. I immediately put on V/H long shots It's been running great the past couple weeks. I have 500 miles on it but I have noticed while going through the gears it backfires and sputters just a bit when letting off the throttle. Is this normal? It stills runs great just wondering if that is a characteristic of that type of exhaust.

Congrats on the new scoot! It looks great

When you added the exhaust, did you also do a re-map with race tuner or other ECM connect module?

Some degree of exhaust pop at decel is acceptable IMO.If you didn't tune your bike, your fuel-air mixture may be a little off. If the bike runs well, and there isn't any pinging or other signs of running lean/hot, then it probably isn't a big deal. If you are running a bit rich.... Not really a problem.

Some say that if you only change the exhaust, and don't upgrade the A/C, you don't need to worry about tuning. In my experience, when any major component is changed on a fuel injected bike, it won't perform at its best unless it is tuned.

You could have an exhaust leak or be running lean or both. Did you install the pipes yourself?
