Default Progressive 11" or 11.5"

I am lowering my wife's 2006 XL883 and am not sure whether I should go with the Progressive 412 11" or 11.5". I am trying to lower her bike as much as possible and I have read several posts on here about bottoming out using the 11" shocks. I have also read several posts that others are using the 11" shocks without any problems. I thought I could go with the 11.5" for a little "bottom-out" insurance, but thought I would post the question on here first. For the record she weighs about 150, 5'7".

The 2 part #s I have seen online are the 412-4005 for the 11" and 412-4006 for the 11.5". On the progressive website they have the part #s listed as 412-4062 for the 11" and 412-4063 for the 11.5". I have read that Progessive may have changed the part #s, which is the reason for the different #s.

Comments/suggestions?

Default RE: Progressive 11" or 11.5"

The reason the part numbers are different is that Progressive added a 1/2 in bump stop on the shocks for the 04 and up models. This is to help prevent bottoming out, and IIRC the reason this came about was due to the 1200N and the fact that the right side rear reflector was hitting the belt guard.... Call their tech support line, they are easy to talk to and pretty helpful...
