Default No Oil Pressure

I'm new to this post, and I was wondering if anyone has had this problem, and can guide me as to what to look for?
I have a 1979 XLS that was in storage for three years and did an oil replacement job with SAE50 the other day,
I went for a ride when the bike overheated after about 4 miles. I took off the return oil hose to the oil tank and while
running had no oil comming out.
I then went to the oil cooler inlet hose and again no oil comming out.
I'm not sure what to do next?

Why are you using straight 50. Try 20w50, it's thinner when cold. Straight 50 may be to to thick to flow properly until it gets heated up. Although you should still get a little flow. So check out the oil pump also, and make sure you have a new filter too incase the old one is blocked up.

best to take the pump off the bike and make sure the gears are alright...should not take too long....I'm not an expert, but I hope this helps ya..I've owned a few IH's , and have had faulty pumps at times.......B
