I warm up my Sporty (2006 XL 1200C Stage-1) for about one minute with 3/4-full choke. I gradually close the choke over a 2-3 minute period while riding under 25 mph. Throttle response and engine noise speak to me more than anything else when warming up. A lot depends on weather and how long its been since my last ride. When you get familiar with your bike you will know what to do by instinct. Every bike has its own unique personality. Get to know each other and you will have no problem. Think... ORIGINAL: fredssport

My dealer told me to let it run about 2-3 minutes before riding. This will allow the cylinder expand and to avoid oil leaks.
I was told the same thing. If it's really cold I warm it up for about 5 minutes.
