Hasn't been as bad lately, but this same type of topic use to come up all too frequently; Sportsters being called a 'girls bike', 'piglet', 'half a hog', or whatever....
I did a 'Search' on Girls Bike in the Sportster Forum and came up with about 5 pages worth of hits.

Sportsters are a girls bike for sure. The absolutely SUCK!! Only ****, bitches and ****** own and ride them. They are highly overrated, under-powered. Crappy chrome that pits in 2 weeks, the used models fall apart after 8500miles, they leak oil all over the place. On top of all of that I have heard that all of these symptoms are contaigious. If you hang around here, you will end up one of them. I suggest you high-tail it to the Softail or Dyna forums ASAP!!! GO!!!! WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?? GO!!!!
PS. Whatever you do, don't listen to ANY of these pinheads in here. They will try to tell you all of this isn't true...its a TRICK STUPID!!! GO!!!! GET OUT OF HERE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!! Don't END UP A *****!!! GO!!!

Most of the people I know who have actually ridden Sportsters compliment them on their speed and torque. One rider I know who has ridden one and does NOT compliment them is a FEMALE! She rides a lowered Softail! One of my female bosses rides a Dyna Low Rider! I do however, get a lot of, "my wife has/had one". And the ones who don't do the Sporty thing, do the bagger thing. The bagger crowd also doesn't ride to work daily like I do. No, it's not a "girls bike". Ride safe, ride hard, and ride often. I don't care what you ride, just RIDE it, dammit!

You may wanna go read up on HD's history a little bit more, I believe this statement actually applies to FL's. They're still the longest running, which is what I'm assuming you meant.
