What's going on with my Sporty?
2006 1200C w/ 12K miles -
lastweek the Harley dealer had to replace the starter clutch - they said they've never seen one so tore up before.
less than a week goes by and my check engine & battery light comes on, after about 70 after that..it's completely dead. I had to have it towed to Harley. They said the battery was dead, and needed a new stator... Good ness.
Is this normal? All I do is ride. I picked her up w/ 3200miles 7 months ago - and I'll I've been doing is riding..
Anyone else experience this?

Yep, I had my starter clutch gear strip out at about 14K miles. It can be a problem on 1200's. You will find details on what causes it and how I solved it in this thread, the 7th post down:

You bought a USED sportster and you can't believe it when it has some issues? Yes it's normal. I could put 50 miles on your bike and bring it back completely trashed. In fact I could do it in 5 miles. Do you see my point? Buy a used bike....buy the problems that went with the bike.
