Default Audible Earphones

Can anyone recommend some earphones to go inside an openface helmet which actually work i.e. so I can hear my Ipod over my loud pipes and wind noise?

Yep, sure can. TheSkullCandy Ink'd Smokin Buds ear buds Best damn ear buds I've ever owned. I can turn my mp3 player down to almost half volume and still hear it at 70 mph + on the highway and that's with no windshield, skid lid and short shot pipes blasting away.
They also sound great and the bonus is they can be had for $14.99 at Circuit City.

They come in different colors too if you are picky.

I use Shure E2-C headphones. They used to sell for $100 but can easily be found for much less now. The sound is amazing, as long as youget the earphones to seal your ear. They block out a LOT of ambient noise. Good luck.

edit = they do protrude out a bit, so they may not work with certain 3/4 or fullface helmets

im using the skull candy, same as above.

Was using ear plugs, and these work just like the plugs, and you don't need alot of volume.

I use JVC "Marshmallows". They were $15 at Wally World and they work like earplugs because they are soft and when you go to put them in just roll them with your fingers and they conform to your inner ear almost eliminating all outside noise. Although if you're not used to wearing earplugs they will take some getting used to.

I have the Skull Candy ear buds but found they block too much noise for me. I put some helmet speakers (cheap ones) in my full open face helmet with flip up shield, and I have a sport HD windshield. My iPod was not strong enough for me to hear the music at 55 mph, so I had to get a 2X amp and an inline volume control. Now I set the volume on the iPod high and the volume control to 1/2 while at idle. That seems to work for me, I can vary it up or downas I ride . It sounds good at 55 and OK at 75. The inline volume control is a must and placement of the speakers is also key.

Yea the Skull Candy ear buds are like extreme noise cancellers. They can be dangerous if you aren't careful because they block out everything but the music. That is what I love about them though.
