Jurob,

Believe it or not, that video gets around.

Thanks for the link, but searching last night turned up a lot of local machines. I'll pass. The bike is way cool, somebody will grab it. Love those pipes - what are they?

I bought an 89' with 32K on the odo. & it ran great and was a very nice bike, especially for the price $3200,I had no problems flippin' it when Dawn decided she didn't likeit's weight. If I would have known thatI may not have bought the new 1 as I have a 06' Shadow for her to ride also. Don't get me wrongthe 06' Sportsteris my baby
I wish I would have kept it now because I want a Springer & solo bike for myself since Dawn still hasn't got on her own[&o]

I paid 2500 for my wifies 86 883 this season. Same condition as yours it seems. I live not too far away in Springfield MA

The one thing I noticed is that not all things listed as fitable to an 86 Sportie will actually fit.

For example, I have been trying to lower the back end for her. A white brothers lowering bracket that should have fit doesn't mine. The swing arm is the same as an 85 so it wont fit the swing arm. Same with a pair of 10" shocks I bought. The grommets were too wide for the swingarm.
This may be because it is an 883 versus a 1200. Her bike runs great and actually sounds better with harley performance pipes than my brand spankie new 1200 custom with Rushes installed.

I would say that given everything I would shoot for 2500 if you could.

There are two versions of the 86 models....E86 and L86. If you figger out which one you got, you'll be A-okay when it comes to findin parts.

How does one go about finding that out? VIN? I didn't check the title I guess it should be on there too right?

Isn't that a 4 speed? I think in '91 they came out with 5 speed. I think you could get a 5 speed 1200XL evolution, with low mileage for that price. I did.

Yeah 4 speed, Mine is anyway. I have heard of people converting them. For what it's worth the four speed does the job just fine.

Sorry it took so long, yes, your VIN should be a good indicator. There are some sites if you google it that tell you how to read them.
