just bought a new 2008 nightster,has 1 mile on it.the service dept was supposed to ride it and adjust everything.this is my first harley.they started it when they delivered it,i rode it approx 80 feet to the house.shut it off and next day wont start,headlight is strong but motor just clicks.gotta be something im doing wrong,the dealer never gave me a owners manual,just a bill of sale.should i call harley and bitch or is there something i screwed up?

Call them and tell them to get thier butts over there. Doesn't sound like anything you did wrong.

 

Even if the headlamp is on, you probably still need to charge the battery. This is pretty common. I suggest getting some type of battery tender.


I would still call the stealer and make them take care of it.

 

It's a dealer problem, so call them. While you're at it, tell them you want the owner's manual -NOW!

Congrats on the new nightster. Good to see another buckeye on the forum here.

You have somegreat riding areas going to the north and east. I try to loop thru there every week or so from Gahanna, since we are way flat here
Bummer on the battert tho,
Assuming you turned the key to off (not acc) You might want to check the battery connections especially if you are riding this am,(looks like we have a 10 hr window here)you can hook a charger to it, should have enough to start it in a few min.

Pretty disapointing the dealer didn't give you the man. Whare did you buy it - AD Farrow? plan B is call the Dealer and have him fix it and return it with a MANUAL

 

No excuse for that...make them come and get the bike for fix and tell them u need owners manual now![>:] Oh, and welcome to the forum from No. Va.

Take it back, tell em to give you another brandy new one that doesn't suck.

And (just in case this COULD have happened) make sure you don't leave the key on ACC.

 

He can't, it won't start.

 

Well "take it back" could also mean "call their asses and make em come get it".

(6-19-1983),so if you know of any private courses in the area,dont feel like waiting 2 years on the state course.
