Default SE heavy breather power loss??

I just had my wife go into a harly shop for me and price both an Arlen Ness Big Sucker and an SE heavy breather. Im currently in a far away land and couldnt price them myself. To my suprise the Tech at the shop told my wife that I dont want the SE part, that its more expensive and actually takes power away. Does anyone know? I tend to agree with the guy if he's willing to tell me to buy a cheaper thing not made by Harley. LOL. Please let me know.

Sounds like that guy is pissed at his employer.

I have the heavy breather and consider it one of the best parts i've bought.

Considering the "heavy Breather" is just a rip off of the Forcewinder, (c'mon guys you know it's true) and the forcewinder will outflow the abilities of the HD carb/throttle body and intake manifold, not to mention the stock heads, I'd say this guyisn't a fan of the "heavy breather".You will not lose power going with any one of these kits. However...
TheScreamin Eagle "Stage 1"flows plenty enough for most stock rejetted/remapped Sportsters and although the ness big sucker and the heavy breather flow better than the stock orstage 1 a/c kits they can only flow as well as the rest of the intake components in the mix.
I'd have to see the numbers to actually believe it.
You can thank the tech for saving you some hard earned $$ though as the Big Sucker is a good "bang for the buck" option.
You will need to modify it a bit for the blowby issues but all in all you will be pleased with the results. Keep in mind this is coming from a Forcewinder owner...
I believe it was 128auto that has a cheap and simple fix for the blowby issues associated with theArlen Ness piece.

The standard SE intake is far better than the stock one.

No objections from me on that one Brian. The SE stage 1 is plenty enough for a stock (remapped/rejetted) Sportster.
If I didn't hate the "hamcan" so much I may have went with the SE stage 1 for mine.

hey Schu,
Ever think about blacking out your primary and cam/belt covers? I think it would really set it off

Yeah, I like the look of the Ness intake. Im not a huge fan of the ham can so that was primarily why i was looking for another option. I have been running my sideshots for about a year without getting a stage 1 done. It was one of those things, the bike didnt run bad with the new exhaust so i opted to save some cash. After reading alot about it, I decided I wanted a good intake as well, but Im not sure I like the Heavy Breather either. So the Big sucker seemed like a great option. Thanks for the help guys.
