Default Shock changing tips? 1200N prog 440's (PIX)

Hey, I'm gonna put new shocks on my 1200N, and I just posted a couple questions in the tech forum, thought I'd link to it here rather than double post...

https://www.hdforums.com/m_3308963/tm.htm

Another quickie for anyone who has 440's... Do I need to remove the lower cover to clear the belt guard? (how?) And are the stock bolts long enough when using the recommended shoulder sleeve and 1/2" spacers?

TIA for any help!

plysat,
pretty easy, jack the rear to neutralize the weight, remove, replace. Watch your spacers for alignment/clearence. Dont know abut the lower cover tho, I used the 412's

My '05 specs are 45-50 ft lb for the shock bolts / locknut

I was just looking at the 440's in all Black, looking forward to the review.

By the way, what length did you go with and is it stock or did you go lower?

So far I like 'em, have 'em on the softest setting and they feel smoother than stock. I'll mess around more and report back. haven't had time to get pix or ride much today... more details to come. They look awesome though. I went with the stock 11" height for the 1200N

Thanks for the info, I think once I get some extra cash I will be purchasing them.

Only thing I could add is to paint your bottom spacers first, put mine on with 412's now they're rusty and look like chit. They should have been powder coated.
