choke or no choke?

choke or no choke?
Just thought I would throw this one out there. When I bought my bike the dealer told me toavoid using the choke. My question is Y. I put 1500+ miles on my bike over the winter (indiana)...And without the choke I doubt I could even get her to run. (cold blooded).. Now my local dealer has told me that 05's 883 had a problem with the choke...didnt elaborate.Any one know anything about that??

RE: choke or no choke?
Technically, it's not a choke, but an enrichener. I don't know of any real problems, except for broken pull *****, which requires the replacement of the entire cable assby.
Odd advise not to use it - I know for sure mine won't start even when lukewarmwithout enrichener.

RE: choke or no choke?
To heck with the wording...choke, enricher..doesn't matter to this discussion.
I HAVE to "choke" my bike. Even in the summer, if the bike is cold. I usually pull out full "choke" until you start to hear the "popcorn" sound. Then half choke. Ride a half mile to a mile and a half, depending on the outstide temps. In the winter, it's takes a lot longer to start toget the"popcorn" sounds.
Works good, and my plugs have always looked clean when I replaced them. The 883 is a cold natured beast.
