Default relocating coil

Does anyone have any pics of how they relocated their coil (and ignition switch) when installing a larger tank that won't let you keep the stock placement? '97 Custom

Most tank kits will have directions on how to relocate those things. I know the kit that came with my tank did, was really simple to move them too.

My kit (Ultima) came with the tank and some hardware to mount the tank. No intructions for relocating anything or even how to mount the tank and hardware. It wasn't too bad to figure out. On your kit did you mount the coil off the upper engine bracket where the horn goes? That's the only place I can figure to put it (close to the sparkplugs).

the tank kit that i got moved the coil down a bit with a bracket that came in the kit. You just needed real small hands to get it mounted, what a pain in the butt.

+1

A kit like this will work for ya but if I remember correctly they can be had at the stealer for about $18.00 http://www.heritagecycleworks.com/c56688p9703521.2.html
You may wanna print and take the pic with you as many of the **** suckers behind the parts counters don't know what the hell a coil/ignition relocation kit is.... had a buddy of mine get treated like an idiot when he was asking for one.... I had to grab the custom chrome book away from the "clerk" (that's all that parts guy was in my book), find the item and point it out to him.

I already fitted my new tank and instead of buying the relocation kit, I put a 2 inch lift on the front of the tank and everything gets to stay in it's origional location. I made my own lifters out of 1 in. x 1/4 in. flat stock. Drilled one hole for the frame mount and drilled and tapped the hole for the tank mount. Idon't even have to use the U-shaped bracket that came with the tank either.

That's using your head. I'll look into both of those options (the kit & lift brackets). The tank I got is a 4.5 gal and I'll have to see how much lift I can go with and still clear my speedo.

This is another way to do it. (I chose to relocate since I've never cared for the "lifted tank" look)
