I've always noticed this annoying rattle and finally figured out that it's the gas cap. It just rattles like mad is there any way to fix it or do I just need to replace it? Has anybody else experienced this?

 

i got a few rubber bands and put them where the plastic screw part meets the metal cap, it acts as a compression washer and reduces the rattle.

but one day my cap flew off on the freeway, i got a new one and it doesnt rattle, for all i know the rattle could be the sign of a failing cap. i say replace it anyways, costs 10 bucks for a new one.

 

Not mine, I heard the factory cap does rattle a bit.

 

Somewhere on here, I can't find the thread right now. Someone had taken a flat screwdriver and hammer and tapped the underside of the metal cap tighter to the plastic inside and said it helped.
