Default Torqueing critical fasteners???

OK guys and maybe any dolls, first let me say that I have had the 1000 mile service done. I now have 2500 miles on my 2008 XL1200L. I am ready to change oil and filter and will be changing the primary oil also. I would also like to check some other things at this point. One thing being the "critical fasteners" that is listed on page 169 of the owners manual. I DO have the service manual and on page 1-66, it gives a list of the critical fasteners. Page 1-62 shows a diagram of the "engine fasteners". Now for my question, how in the world do you check something like some of the "stabilizer link screws"? That is how do you get a foot pound torque wrench with a torque bit (star socket)attached on to some of these when there just doesn't seem to be room to do so? One other thing, is there anything special in checking torque of axle nuts? I thank anyone and everyone in advance for a reply on this.

Technically you could use a crows foot socket. I just use a box end wrench and make sure it's good and tight.

Thanks cHarley and SportyPig. I don't like to bump a post, but I was really curious about this. I thought that maybe some of them you just had to make sure that they were tight. Again, I thank you.

Checking torque on axle nuts = loosen them and re-torque them.

And there's always room...sometimes you just gotta be creative .

Thanks 6066er for the info on the axle nuts. I do take it that the bike DOES NOT have to be jacked up for this. Right? Again, I thank you.

Nah...you're not taking them off or anything...just bust em loose and re-torque em real quick. No biggie.
