RE: Help lowering the back end 2006 Sportster
I wholeheartedly agree about the front forks being the reason for your wobble. cause, if anything, struts will plant that bike more firmly in corners, not cause it to wobble more.. but if you haven't compesated on the front end, you'll most like have wobble issues.

capttawes I owe you a cold beer! I just did some searching and found that I have indeed screwed my rake/trail. I always though you only started messing with rake/tail when you messed with the front end. Boy was I wrong! You would think after 16 years of riding I would know what I am doing.
So apart from lowering the front to compensate, is there anything else I can do?

Hang on ~~ LOL~~I put them on and the only thing to fix it I'm told is either changing the stock front end set up or why not if you going to spend the money get a -2 under springer front end ~~ way cool and should fix the problem ~ I tell what it had been years since ridinga "hartail" all the time and after the first couple days of long rides 100 miles or more I had to sit with an ice pack on my neck ~ for an hour ~ damn I'm gettin old ~ but the bike is a lot more fun now me thinks ~ I'm about to have a springer put on this one to help with the same problem ~ American Classic Motorcycles on ebay has one for 323.99 that I think is bad *** ~

I know going back to shocks wont look as clean, that why i went with black 412s to try to hide them and blnd in with the frame. Putting a springer on would be nice, If i were to do it would spend the money on a quality one with a shock. There may be a clearance issue with the custom tank you have. Paughco makes some specifically for the rubbermounts

Well, I would start with some decent dog bones , if you order from a lot of places the fender mounts and the axel are included with the springer and Now your front brake system will work but I went for thePerformance Machine chrome system but you don't have to ~ and it would look fine ~ as far as I know that is itbut you can ask your local repair shop or hell just e-mail j&P to be sure or whoever you purchase from also ~I'm pretty darn sure that is it ~ I mean it's not for everyonebutdarned if theydon't look cool on the right scooterand your bike looks very nice ~ it could just set it right off ~ you know ~ and the thing is try it and if you don't like it the resale on the springer will be no problem ~ they tend to hold their value if taken care of ~ and if nothing else it would be a good experiance to learn something about bikes you didn't know,right? That's how I like to roll , but that's just me.Hope it helps ~ Stay Strong,T in knoxville

RE: Help lowering the back end 2006 Sportster
I recently lowered my 06 xl1200 Low 3" in the rear using a bracket kit. It handled and ran great with just me on it. Buuut I made the mistake of letting my girl get on. Each time she rode with me and we hit a bump the fender was hitting the belt gaurd and eventually something electrical \\;turned wacky. My front/rear right turn signal stays bright, not even flashing... just bright. Any suggestions \\;on how to fix the light and also how to make it safe \\;to have a passanger??? (Other than raising it up) \\;
