Progressive 412 shocks will they make a difference
Wondering if you guys that have progressive 412 could tell me if they make a big difference over stock shocks. If not Progressive shocks what would be better. I done a 1200 mile trip last summer with stock shocks and it was not the most comfortable. Thanks

Been there and done the research onthis site.... I'm suprised so many people read your thread but didn't assist you...
anyhoots.... for what I gather from other people the 412 will make a difference, but you also get a little more difference with a Progressive Brand shock and go with the 418 or 440's which is one of there top of the lines....
the 812's are pretty close to the 440's except that the 440's have an self adjusting dampener system, as with the 418's you have to set the dampener.... The 412's for what i believe, have no dampener system....
hope that helps.... I'm probably going with the 418's myself

RE: Progressive 412 shocks will they make a difference
I just put the first 400 miles on my 06 1200-C with 412 12.5" standard. I'm 185 lbs and ride solo. I was looking for a smoother ride, but I cant feel much deference to the stock ones. But I think it handles a bit better, and it don't bottom out no more, so it's not all bad. Just not what I was looking for. Could be the 418 or the 440 would have been better for me. I just don't have the $ to work with.
I did put in Progressive front fork springs and they work good, handles better and rides smoother... good luck.

Noticed a big difference. Went with 11.5", haven't bottomed out yet. MUCH better over bumps and sewer covers. Once you change out your rear shocks, then you'll realize how bad the front springs are. Those made the biggest difference IMO.

I also have the 11.5" 412s on and I have to agree -- I don't bottom out as much, but the ride isn't a huge improvement over the stock setup. Glad I only paid $70 for my set. I think I'lltry the fork springs soon and see what improvements they make.

RE: Progressive 412 shocks will they make a difference
I went this route, 13.5" Progressive Standards. I am 5' 9" and 185. I am running them one turn from the softest setting. My 2007 1200C had 11.75 inch shocks stock, these are the same as the 1200R takes. What a difference they made. Bumps are nearly undetectable and it no longer squats on acceleration due the IAS which separates chassis movement from swing arm movemant. Can you tell, I like em.
