RE: MSF classes coming up
Good luck- I took the course about month ago ,I recomend it to everyone. It will give you confidence you will take with you when you ride your own bike. In Troy Ohio we used brand new Honda 250's .I felt sorry for couple guys in my class they were 6ft6 they looked funny on them. It finaly paid off to be 5 ft 6 for once LoL...

Relax and have fun. It really is a blast.
Oh... and don't forget your gear. I had everything except the long sleeve shirt required. Thankfully, my pajama top had long sleeves. LOL!
Yes, I took the riding course in my P.J.s!

Good advice already given, but remember to look where you want to go and lean into the turns. I blew one of the turns in the final test and still passed nicely, despite my advanced age. I hadn't ridden in many years and took the course to relearn things. It was well worth it. The instructors are excellent and give very good counsel. I have ridden 4000 miles since taking it last April andrely always on the basic skills learned and relearned. Everyone in our class passed, even the overweight lady who put her feet down sometimes in the U-turns. My training bike was a Honda Nighthawk 250, a great little bike. It was a blast.
Inow have a Yamaha Star 250 because it is so much fun to ride around town, a Kawasali Vulcan 750 for the country roads and now my dream bike, a red '07 XL1200C, for all around stuff. I rode all winter in Northern Virginia whenever it was dry and 40 degrees.

If you understand the explanation of "counter steering" and "swerving", you're wrong. If you ask a follow up question, you'll finally get it--wrong again. When you are sure that you have it all wrong, then you've probably got it. It's the most important thing in the course--practice it every time you ride.

after riding for over 30 years I took the class with my wife and all I can say is it is a start . the best advise I can give is you will have some very basic skills but by no means will you be a motorcycle rider.I know it probably wont be the most popular advise gave but wear your safety gear( yes that means a helmet , some type of protective jacket , leather or textile it dont matter , gloves and some sturdy boots). take your time rome wasnt built in a day , forget about group riding for now and consentrate on expanding the skills you learn in the msf. and most of all there is no shame in just pulling off the road and stopping to think about something that makes you nervous or wary. better to arrive late than to not arrive at all.
pay attentionin class and on the range, good luck and safe riding.

What kind of bikes do they use? A friend of mine said they use Buell Blasts for some of em...that could be pretty fun!

When I took the course we rode Buell Blast .... most were new only a couple of hundred miles on them....they were not a blast!
Had to fork out $250.00 for the course, had fun learned alot, got a few bucks back from the dealer in the form of a gift certificate($25) and HOG gave me a( $50) gift certificate.
