RE: Thinking of Vance and Hines Straightshots
I have V&H Straightshots on my 2002 XL1200C. I was told by a HD mechanic that if you cut the front 4 fins off of the baffle you will gain about 5 horsepower. As a bonus the pipes are louder!! Just don't cut the back of the baffle since that is were it gets fastened to the pipe. I did it and you can notice the difference.

I have put on my 1200C (Short staggered) by Vance and Hines and I love it. I’m positive that (Straight Shots) are the same or better.
You can go to their website and see and hear the sound.

I have them on my 2000 1200C. They were loud enough to sound excellent, but not enough to bother the local police force (yet!)
I pulled the V/H baffles and re[laced them with Thunder Monster Performance Baffles...Thought they sounded nice before but they're even better now!
