I just ordered a 140/90 rear metzeler Marathon 4 my Sporty... Is it me or do Metzeler tire widths run narrower??? Used to have a Dunlop 130/90 and seems way wider than the Metzeler140/90... any thoughts???

 

I hope they don't run smaller I wana get an Avon 160 for my bike after cHarley said he put a metzeler 160 on his bike. But if his fit and they do run small that would really not be good for me.

 

The Metzler's are slightly narrower when compared size for size against the Dunlop or Avon. That's what allows the Metz 160/80 to replace a Dunlop 150/80. It is not however a full size smaller (narrower). The Metz also appears to me to have a more rounded profile, like a sport bike tire, which makes it look a bit narrower when viewed from behind.

Bradley, I don't think the Avon 160 is going to fit, my previous posts were all in regards to the Metz ME880.

 

cHarley hit the nail on the head with this one. I could have put a 140 on my '96 but I like the skinny tire look so I went with the 130 metz. My metz front is the 90-90/21
