Default pics of my new bars, fwd controls, and shocks

Here are my latest mods. The bars are HD#56079-93 DWG mini apes. The shocks are the HD#54750-05A low rear shock kit.
I didn't expect a better ride with these, but it is definetley an improvement. I also like the fact that it comes with a shorter
jiffy stand and has 2 more pre-load adjustments versus my stock ones. Original stock lnth. were 13.25". The lowering
kit is 11.75". The forward controls are HD#33395-06 chrome version.

I had to completely change out the front brake lines and manifold due to the dual front brake set-up. Ihad to go with a
6" ext. clutch cableand a 4" extention on the wiring. The throttle cables are stock. I just moved them to the outside of
the forks. I didn't feel like soldering wires so I bought the HD 4" wiring harness kits which for all three came to about $60.
Kinda pricey but it made for a quick job.

To help keep cost down, I wentthrough Drag Specialties with a black clutch cable and universal stainless brake components.
I could have saved some money on the forward controls through V-TWIN MFG. But, the HD dealer had these in stock and
I was getting antsy about completing the project. Total cost of the project was right at $1100.00 and I did the work myself.

I may still run the wiring through the bars but it will work for now. Man, I can't tell you how much more comfortable this bike is.
Its like a whole new bike. I thought about buckhorn bars, but they are too narrow for me. These are 32" wide and are perfect.
They also have about 1" more pullback than the Sportster mini apes. Anyway, here are my pics.

Btw, the pic in my sig is a before shot. stock bars, shocks, and mid-controls with highway pegs.

I love em. I didn't think I would like them either. What sold me on the idea was the local dealer had a nightster on the floor
with mini apes and forward controls and after sitting on it, I realized that was for me. Fits me like a glove. Before, I was leaning forward too
much and my back was starting to cramp up. Now, i'm in a more upright position and it feels natural. With the forward controls now,
I sit just right in the Sundowner seat and all I can say now is.............SWEET!!!

The advantage for me with mini apes is the width of the bars. I feel like I have more control in the turns than I would with narrower
buckhorns. Also, I can see much better in the mirrors now. I'm only 5'7" with a 29" reach and this bike now is near perfect for me.

Its only taken me two years and sitting on a lot of bikes to get it right. But it has paid off for me now.

getting ready to add the mini apes myself...yours looks good, i tried the nightster with the mini apes and liked them...the bike i got had the white walls and forward controls already on it, and figured it would be alot cheaper just buying the handle bars...i did add the spring solo seat though...and some v&h slip ons...check out the album...
