Looking for a Sportster
Trying tobuy a late model Sportster, '04 or later. After checking this forum, ebay, cycletrader, I can't find any in this area (Arizona). Itried craigslist but these guys must be huffing. Over $7000 for an 883. I may as well buy a new one, which in fact I might have to. All the ones I want are back east, GA, FL, NY everywhere but AZ!

I have but not many to choose from. May have to go to Phoenix. Heck, I'm just going to buy new. Looking now on craigslist, $10,500 for an '07 883, I kid you not:

I boughtmy 05 1200 Con e-bay. It was 1700 miles away in Cookeville, Tennessee. How often does a guy get the chance to go on a motorcycle adventure one way only? I did not consider the cost of flying there to getthe bikeas part of the cost of the bike but rather the cost of one really neat adventure/vacation, which it was.

Be patient, deals are out there. That said, springtime is when demand starts to pick up for motorcycles (like convertibles).
Keep an eye on bikes in your area on eBay and Craigslist that don't sell. I got mine by contacting the seller after an auction expired with no bids. Having cash in hand works in your favor.
best of luck!

Whaap,
I've got a Roadking for my long adventures. [sm=biker.gif] I'll also be on the road 16 days in a row this summer.
I'm happy for ya but I can't buy a bike thousands of miles awayjust by looking at the pictures. I don't know what's on the other end.
Have a good tripand congrats on the new scoot.

Rusty,
I have cash in hand. I'm also patient but I have been looking for months. Just checked and the only bikes are out of the area. Whaap's a more trusting soul than Iam because I want to see the bike in person before I hand over the money. I'd hate to fly out and find out it's not as advertised.

Our bikes normally more expensive in the west? I picked up my 07 1200c from the dealership new for $10,000 with all the chrome, when it first came out. Perhaps if you dont mind traveling a bit, come here and pick one up? Would be a fun ride back. (Kansas City,MO)

check dealers in new england - there always seems to be a surplus of Sportsters. Just about every showroom I've walked through, Sporties everywhere. That would be an interesting journey - taking a Sportster from new england to Arizona!
You are lucky to live out there - we vacation there every year and hit Eagle Rider in Scottsdale for rentals - great people - and a sweet ride up north.
