Default signal colors

I live in wisconsin and I am wondering if I have to have specific colors for signals or can I use something unconventional. I know amber is pretty standard, but could I use blue, or green?

I'm pretty sure the turn signals have to be amber up front and amber or red in back. You could try it but I'd bet you'll get yanked over pretty quick.

It just says they are required, nothing about color.

nice to know, as I read it, its seems color wouldn't matter as long as signals are there and visible

Don't believe you can use blue at all. That color designates an emergency vehicle. Can use red on the back. but not on the front, also designates emergency vehicle. Doubt green would pass either. Your best bet is to contact the WI motor vehicle department. Nothing against what anubisss posted, but those are general guidelines. not the entire statute ofthe laws.

Blue lights of any kindare NOTlegal in the state of WI with the exception of Police vehicles. Amber in the front for marker andturn signal lights only. Red or amber in the rear are legal.
Wantto giveJohnnyLaw a reasonto pull you?Go ahead and try blue or green and let us know what happens...

that's definately a negative on the blue...quick and easy route to getting a ticket.
and just go a head and call your local DMV...why would you want something other than amber or red? I'd be more worried of not getting the attention of someone with a less "flashy" light...i know it's only your turn signal, but that's the light you depend on for making sure that person that is right behind you realizes that you may be slowing down pretty soon.

After doing a bit of research... Sorry for big print but I copied and pasted this from http://www.aamva.org/aamva/DocumentD...EE42E8C9BD7%7D

This is Federal law for ANY motor vehicle.

What Biker Trash said.

This is US Federal Law and applies to ALL states.
Turn signals/running lamps:
2 Amber in the front.
2 Amber or 2 Red in the rear.
