I think I remember in MSF class they mentioned that it is ok to use high beams all the time.

You'll find that alot of riders do. I don't personally. There's enough road rage going on today without adding something that might **** off a cage driver.

I use the high beam during the day. More visible than the low beam, and it isn't too bright in daylight to irritate anyone.

I use the high beam most of the time - day and night. I don't want my heirs to hear, "I never saw him".

I use the high beam when some brain dead driver won't move out of the left hand lane. I guess they haven't got the memo that the left hand lane is for passing only.

I've been riding 44 years andcan honestly say I've never encountered or seen anoncoming driver, or driver I'm behind, PO'd because I ride with my high beam on - day or night, and NJ is not what you'd call a "polite" state when it comes to drivers. Even long before it was the law to ride with a headlight on, I rode with my high beam. Besides, I'd rather be seen and alive than polite.

I had to dump an old Triumph smack in the middle of the road once and banged myself and the bike up pretty good. Why did I have to do that? Because as the driver said when she ran the stop sign, "I never saw you".

As riders, we see a lot of things car drivers don't because we are much more attuned to what's going on around us. I can't say it enough, so I'll say it again, "I'd rather be seen and alive than polite."
