Hmm, can't say as it looks "tready" to me. A bit slick. I would trust JRK5892on the warning.

All new tires need to be run "easy" the first couple of hundred miles to scrub off the release oil from the manufacturing process. I took care of that the first day, 320 miles.

Sport/Touring tires are not supposed to be "tready" in the traditional car tire sense. Take a closer look next time you're shopping.

I've been running a Metzler for the last 2 years on the back of my '96. It actually has more "grip" than the stock Dunslop. Wet weather traction is way better, and itseems to ride better too.
I have 8000 not so nicely ridden miles on mine and it still has most of the tread left on it.

For your 2000 1200C Metzler lists the following sizes for the ME880's:
Front - 90/90-21
Rear - 140/90-B16
