Default V&H or Cycle Shack Slip On

I have been thinking of throwing on some slip ons. Anyone have a reason to lean toward The Vance and Hines or the Cycle Shacks? I will not be doing the a/c change yet because I do not want to pay for a remap or fuel pack yet. Maybe go with the cycle shacks now on the cheap then when I decide to change out the a/c as well go with the Vance and Hines? What do you guys think? Right now I just want a better sound over stock.

If you go with Cycle shacks now, there is no reason to change later. They both perform about the same (more towards CS from what I've read). It basicly boils down to looks and sound preference. Check out Rush and Python 3 (made by V&H) also.

I did a comparasion of Cycle Shack tapers (mine) and V&H pipes. I switched rides with a chick that had a bike identical to mine, except for the exhaust. The V&H pipes were a bit more low sounding, with more of a rumble than the Cycle Shacks. I did notice a slight loss in Mid Range Torque on the V&H pipes, but it wasn't significant.

Just know that the Cycle Shacks will be quite "tinny" sounding and harsh when first installed. They need some carbon build up to help mellow them out.

Good to Know Sporty. Now I won't think something is wrong. Got a Sundowner coming Thursday, have seen great reviews posted by you on that seat. Hoping it is all true. Stock seat was killing me.

My RG has V&H slipons and I am very pleased with their performance & sound and I'm leaning towards V&H slipons on the wifes 1200R too.

I just changed out my CC slip ons today for a set of VH Short Shots, no other mods to the bike. If money is your situation, then go CC, if not, the VH are a better pipe. I rode yesterday and again today after the swap and I definitely feel a difference. The VH have a better sound, even if it is louder. Nothing wrong with the CC slip ons but the VH pipes are worth the extra. Can't wait for the A/C and jets!!
