Lowering kit versus "Low" model?

Lowering kit versus "Low" model?
My wife is short. She is ready to upgrade from her first bike-a Buell Blast- to something bigger. We looked at metrics, I suggested a "Low" Sporty might work. We would just as soon not buy new, what is the difference between a "Low" model, and a regular one with a lowering kit? Any difference? If you just used shorter shocks to get the seat height down, would it mess up handling?

RE: Lowering kit versus "Low" model?
I compared all before I bought......the LOW ain't all that low.
So I went with a Custom and installed a 40 buck ebay rear lowering shock bracket kit and a Nightster seat......That sucker is LOW now!.....If needed I could have also lowered it in front by simply dropping the fork tubes in the trees and inch or more by loosening the tree clamps and sliding the tubes upwards for free.
Try the lowering brackets berfore you pay for shocks and fork springs.
