o.k. I get 36 mpg. I was told the bike got 50 mpg. I do admit I cruise at 90mph most the time and excel hard a lot. what do you peaple get as an average mpg?? 2000 sprty 1200c with windsreen

I get between 45 and 48 in the city and, two weeks ago this saturday I actually got 69.8 mpg on the highway.

Between 50 and 55 MPG. But I'm an old guy who rides it pretty easy.

42-45 on a good day and I don't ride hard! 43 probably the average.

Duh,

I get 50-52mpg crusing @ 70-75 highway, 55mpg crusing @55, 40-42mpg around town.

Thanks for ypur input. Maybe I need to slow down. The bike was serviced by the dealer 1000 miles ago so it shouldnt need tuning or anything.... Right??

Stargazer - almost 70 mpg??? those are some long legs your 883 has...what speeds did you average and what fuel were you burning?

If you are riding that hard and cruising at 90, ther is no way you will get near 50 mpg.

wind resistance goes up with the square of the speed. For best gas mileage try 45 mph. I am not saying that is where you will get the best gas mileage but it will be closer.
