RE: Helmet opinions wanted
I've had HJC, Shoei, Bell, and now wear Z1R's - the most comfortable helmets I've ever owned. I have a full face and a 3/4 and love 'em both. The Z1R full-face helmet was found in 2006 by an independent study and test to be the best head protector sold, and it cost a whopping $90.00!

Well since you said you were looking at the Drifter which is a 1/2 bucket, I love my ACC carbon fiber. It's really light weight and much more comfortable than the typical heaver fiberglass 1/2 helmets. They are a forum sponsor and offer a discount to members. I do not recommend the "Polo" model as the brim will catch the wind at highway speeds. Super nice people and great customer service.

I have the HD 1/2 lid. It have a zip out ear cover which I though I would never use, but it does cut down on the wind/bike noise in addition to keeping my ears from freezing off. It was on the 1/2 price rack (about $65)
Under 45* I use a Zox FF (about $60 ) to cut down of the brain freeze.

Without a windshied on or in cooler months I wear and HJC CL14 which is nice and reasonable ($109), in the summer or when I've got my shieldon I wear a Jafrum half helmet (very slimline and cheap $35 when I got it). The HD stock half is terrible, heavy and will catch enough wind to snap your neck back and with a shield on it buffets like crazy with or w/o the visor attached. I find myself wearing the FF alot for comfort and less noise except when its hot or around town. If I get another FF I'm going back to a ShoeiRF-1000, had one yrs. ago and it was super light and comfortable but super pricey.
Those ACC helmet are awesome and really slim fittingif you get the non DOT but are really expensive, and the DOT version is the exact size of my Jafrumand weighs about the same and costs about $80 more.
