Default Long ride comfort

The better half is looking to get into riding with me on her own scoot, and are trying to figure out what would best fit her. Shes 5'11', and would be some longer trips as well as day rides. Shes going to get her feet wet on an older honda for now, but willl need something, well better made and bigger. Any input on fwd controls vs mid controls, hwy pegs.. etc?

Does the bike she's getting her feet wet on have mid or forward controls? The first bike I rode with forwards felt alot different than what I was used to coming from sportbikes. I now prefer the forward controls. On highway rides I can put my feet over the pegs when I feel the need to stretch the legs. Really all depends on what your better halffeels comfortable/in control ofriding. If mids with highway pegs work better go with that.Might trya demo day after she gets her feet wet and let hercheck outthe different setups.

The lil honda cx500 has mid controls on it, and no hwy pegs at all.

I'm 5'9" and have a 1200C with forward controls. I've also install highway pegs so I can switch leg positioning on longer rides. I took a 2k trip last summer and was pretty comfortable with the forward controls alone, but found myself wishing I could stretch out a little more.
Mid controls make me feel like I'm riding a circus bike. It's probably going to come down to what feels the most comfortable to her.

I think you let her figure out what she's comfortable with. Let her get used to riding first and then take her to a dealership that might let her test ride. She's going to be the one that needs to figure out what's best for her.

I agree with those who say she should get what she's comfy with. Demo day's are a good way to try before you buy... My wife is 5'6" ride an 883C with forwards, loves them and won't go back to mids. She had mids on her 750 Magna... She also has the highway bars for stretching on long rides... Loves her Sportster..
