I have about 8,000 miles on my SE air filter. It looks fine still, but I can't find any info on how long the SE filters last, they are disposible right? Also when I replace it, I was going to K&N, but I don't see them in the J&P catalog or online. Anybody have a good source for them or part number so I can have the local Indy get me one.

You were correct, the K&N for the SE sneaked on the scene last year.

 

At ~90,000 miles I bought a second SE filter. The rubber supports for the 2002 sportster had stretched a bit. The element and basic support structure is still good. I will see about getting some pics of a new & old filter.

 

So is there any info out there on how often you should change the factory SE filter? I have not found anything...

 

Assuming you have the paper (non-washable) SE filter, I would say 10K miles, but that varies depending on the environment you ride in.

 

Drag Specialties makes a KN type washable filter for the Screaming Eagle filter assembly. It is just like the KN filter, price I believe might be a little less, Part number is 1011-0783

Your local shop should be able to order it for you

 

My mistake. For pre 2004 SE and KN are the same filter. I've been using a K&N filter since the date of purchase.
