Default Removing my Baffles forced me to make changes!

Ok.. now I get it... I understand what everyone was saying about losing torque!

Since I've removed the Baffles (which I love the sound)...
I decided to change out the air filter to Screamin Eagle to allow more air amd also re-jet the Carbs... I am purchasing a Stage 1 Kit.
Hopefully the performance will improve along with the gas mileage (which is great anyhow)...

But you guys were SOOOO right.. I lost torque going up hills and I can tell a difference.. not a HUGE difference.. but I can tell.

Thanks for all the help.. I will keep you updated when I get this stuff put on the bike (hopefully this week with my buddy).

Lisa

Once you get it all together, pipes, air cleaner and jets, get it dyno tuned to get the most out of it. Also you find out if you did it right.

Watch out though, once you start tinkering with your new toy it is hard to stop!!

You'll notice a huge difference with the stage 1 ! It will run like a whole different bike. Enjoy!!!!

yup the extra power is a drug, soon you will need more then more then more[sm=nxsmile.gif]
It does have its limits tho. Got a bud with a 300+ HP 1100 gixxer. It will eat his busas lunch and his busa has NOS. I always feel relieved after I ride it to get back on my slow bike[8D]

I highly suggest putting SOMETHING in your pipes as far as baffles...

I just recently put the Big City Thunder baffles in my drags...WAY more power and much better sound. I never realized just how much I was losing til I installed those damn things...they're AWESOME!!!

If you ever run across a good set of 2-1s cheap stick them on the bike and coast around the block, it will give you about 7 extra HP and you can really feel it well.

I'm not a fan of 2 into 1's. No real reason other than I just don't like how they look. I've ridden a 1200 with thunderheaders though...there is a noticable difference, I will say.

Maybe after the next wave of chopping and re-vamping they'll find their way on...just maybe.

I've also been told that drag pipes ruin torque but honestly never noticed much difference. I think riding street and dirt bikes created a riding style that overcomes the short comings of drag pipes. I see when most folks shift and compare to when I shift and they are much different. I keep 'er humming and never lug the motor. Do this and you won't notice it. Generally drag pipes only have a dip in the torque curve at a given rpm. Ride above , or through, that rpm and the dip isn't enough to notice.

But like I said, I went from riding 600 street bikes and 125 dirt bikes to Harley's, and if you have any experience with either you know that torque is a nonfactor on these bikes. It's all about riding aggressively.
