You should prolly at least get it remapped. IMO baffleless pipes sound very metallic and cheap.
I think you would be happier with some nice sounding loud pipes. Either way tho you most likely will need a remap, you might as well get a aircleaner and a SE ign module and have a complete stage 1
if you are gonna get a remap because if you add that stuff on later you will have to have it re remapped [8D]
Ok, so I have already had the remap and stage 1. Had it done when I had the V&H Sideshots installed on my 08 1200c. So if I was wanting to remove my baffles, should I remap it again afterwards?

Since my pipes are so short and large diameter, am I going to be better off getting the cones or rings or whatever? I have been doing some reading, and I see all the backpressure issues and lean issues and whatnot.... bottom line is, I want them louder. And no I'm not deaf

best advise????

Get some Big City Thunder Baffles.

Loud as hell but still give you the required backpressure.

Just do a search on here for Big City Thunder or BCT and read all the outstanding reviews by everyone on here.

BCT baffles rule. Period. I've had mine in for almost a year and a half, and that was also the last time I tuned my carb until a couple weeks ago. I had absolutely ZERO problems with them during that entire period of time without touching a thing.

I've been doing a little more reading and someone has in their signature that they removed their baffles, and dont need any because their vance and hines pipes have the "power chamber". Is there any truth to this? I have the sideshots which claim also to have the power chamber.

Also, if I were to go with the BCT, would I need to have my bike remapped again even after having it done with the stage 1 when I put the pipes on?

get some big city thundr monster baffles i just put mine in my short shots and they sound loud and vicious now. and they still keep enough backpressure to keep you from having any problems.

Default 08 Super Glide

The other night a few of us went riding. I bought my Harley last fall and can't afford exhaust quite yet. One of gentleman we were ridin' with had an 08 Heritage and it appeared to have the factory exhaust but sounded much better than mine. It was louder and throatier. What he said he did was knock the baffles out. He said he gained a little power and mileage. I may have to try it also until I can afford exhaust. As far as running hot or burning valves I haven't done any research on this. He didn't remove anything just knocked them out.

I have an 03 883 with se2's.
I took the baffles out,,pretty easy really, drilled out the rivets, banged the end of the slipons onto a 4x4 block (which is soft enough to not scratch the chrome),and they shot out.
Next I removed the packing and tried it basically as a straight pipe,,after 50mph it really hauls with no restriction, but it sounds hollow,,so i kept the packing out and put the baffle back in,,secured the baffles with a good sized stainless torx and nut.
Now its def louder,,with a little more excell ease at the top end.

I can't afford new exhaust for my bike right now. Can these baffles you mentioned be put in factory exhaust in place of factory baffles?

it does not need a remap its an '06 with a carb...I removed mine last year, with no loss of power and still kicking at 17k miles
