If the third plug is a pigtail you won't need the alligator clips.

Does plug coming off the battery & the plug coming off the tender look the same? If so, it is prob a pigtail & they plug in to each other.

I made the mistake of taking out my battery before I found the pigtail - UGH!

ya the plug coming from the battery right by the end of the tank where the seat begins fits the plug from the charger. so the alligator clips are only if I didn't have that and i dont need to use them?

sounds like the tender harness is already on the bike. If this is the case, simply plug the 2-pinconnector of the tender into the mating connector on the bike.

Don't need to use the alligator clips...the connector from battery tender to your pigtail plug will work just fine. When you first plug in tender the red light will come on, minutes later the green light will flash. When the battery is fully charged, the green light will stay on all the time.

I unplug the battery tender from the wall outlet while I'm out riding.

Hmmm, I gues I have been doing it wrong - I have been unpluging the tender from the bike. It was either that or get a realllly long extention cord

I bought a charger/tender from walmart yesterday. It charges both 6 and 12 volt batteries and it comes with both the clamps and pigtail connectors. Cost 19$, half of what the stealership charges for one. I work too hard for my money to just give it away
