I have been trying to get my 2005 1200XLC Sportster started for the first time this year, and she just don't wanna fire. She turns over, i can smell gas but just don't wanna start. My wife's fires right up but she has a 2007 fuel injected, i have tried a couple drops of gas in the cylinders cleaned the plugs, am at a loss now. Anybody have any suggestions?

 

You need to check and see if you have spark. Pull both plug wires, then pull a plug and reattach its wire, ground the base of the plug. Now turn the engige over and see if you have spark at the plug.

 

Drain the old gas from the tank and carb and put some freshin then try it.

 

Thanks you guys for the advice. Got it goin finally, wasnt givin her enough gas. Now just gotta wait for the salt to be washed away on the roads to enjoy it.
